The seventh Toronto Triathlon Festival takes place in the largest city in Canada this coming weekend. Athletes are scheduled to take a swim in Lake Ontario, take a hasty sprint along the Martin Goodman trail and give rush hour on Gardiner/DVP new meaning. The exciting, much-anticipated event will include the Toronto Mile, championship races and some mixed relays. An early start is expected on Sunday morning with so many events to fit into the day.

An Eventful Day Ahead

While the customary traditional Sunday triathlons are on the cards with more than 1500 athletes scheduled to flood Toronto’s downtown center, new additions to the festival are causing excitement. The Mixed Team Relay is predicted to add something different to the mix. Two events, Triathlon Canada Development Series Mixed Team Relay Race and Toronto CAMTRI Mixed Relay American Cup, are welcome inclusions to an event that draws numbers each year. The latter will be considered the mixed relay format’s national championship race. The festival will also play host to the first Provincial Mixed Team Relay Club Championships. An action-packed festival is expected.

Stars In The Fold

The festival will culminate in a Q & A session with Simon Whitfield, winner of two Olympic medals. Cervelo co-founder, Phil White will join Whitfield. If you are feeling up to it you will have the opportunity to challenge yourself by swimming the course or take part in a run with the Olympic star as part of your Saturday afternoon festivities. The perfect way to end a festival of excitement, thrills, and good wholesome competition. Join in the events of the day in Toronto and encourage your favorites to victory. Get caught up in the hype and swept away in a competition that takes Toronto by storm each year. A bigger and better event is on the cards with many more scheduled races than ever before.
